ALPINE GOLF HOLIDAYS

Most people relate the French Alps to skiing. However, more and more are realising that from May to October, the Haute-Savoie Alps are a golfer's paradise.

Why not bring your group to the Chalet des Montagnes for a tailor-made golfing break? The holiday can either be purely golf based, or integrated with other alpine sports and activities for a totally unforgettable experience. Our alpine golf holidays are ideal for those with non-golfing partners, due to the array of alternative activities and sightseeing opportunities that can easily be incorporated whilst the golfers are on the course

Surrounding courses in the Haute-Savoie are set amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe. They include Chamonix, Megève, Avoriaz, Annecy, Les Gets, Flaine and the Royal Club at Evian, overlooking Lake Geneva and one of the finest clubs in France. Short course descriptions are provided below.

Cleverly designed and excellently maintained courses at altitudes up to 7,000ft give breathtaking backdrops to every shot and add extra yardage to your tee shots. Courses are between 15 and 75 minutes from Morzine. You can play as often as you wish, or mix golf with some of the many other sports and activities on offer.

Green fees are payable at the courses in Euros and range from £20 to £50 per round. Clubs can be hired at all courses. We can obtain discounts on green fees and can guarantee tee times. All courses have good facilities including clubhouse, restaurant, golf trolleys, electric cabbie cars, etc.

Course descriptions

Morzine-Avoriaz: 15 minutes drive

The 9-hole golf course, designed by Hugues Lambert, is located at the entry to the Avoriaz resort on the Proclou site, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty set amidst pine trees and surrounding mountains. It covers a distance of 2,930m and offers 9-hole round green fees as well as 18-hole green fees.

Les Gets: 15 minutes drive

This 18-hole course was designed by Olivier Dongradi. Enjoy a round of golf and see how he has succeeded in combining a breathtaking alpine setting with an authentic technical challenge while respecting the rules that govern golf course design. It is a par 70 course and covers 5,227m. Competitions are held every Sunday and Wednesday.

Flaine les Carroz: one hour drive

R. Berthes skillfully designed this course in 1986, at 1,500m one of the highest in Europe. He could not have chosen a more majestic natural setting, overlooking the valley of the Arve and the ski resort of Flaine. It has 18 holes and is a par 63. No handicap is required.

Annecy: one hour 15 minutes drive

Accessible to players of all levels, the Golf Club du Lac d’Annecy ranges over the listed site of Roc de Chère, a protected nature reserve. This hilly and wooded course, which calls for skill and accuracy, will surprise you with some lofty tees and magnificent views of the mountains, the lake and Ch âteau de Menthon St Bernard.

Chamonix: 70 minutes drive

At the foot of a glacial valley between Mont Blanc and Les Aiguilles Rouges, the Chamonix course bears the hallmark of Robert Trent Jones Snr. Amidst a majestic setting, this technically challenging 6,076m course, with water obstacles and many bunkers, is not easily forgotten. It is a par 72 course and a handicap of 35 is required.

Megève: 50 minutes drive

This challenging course is situated on the plateau of Mont d'Arbois and is an enjoyable challenge to all golfers due one or two difficulties linked to its high altitude. It was designed by Henry Cotton, covers 6,100m and is a par 72.

Evian: 45 minutes drive

Rated by many as the most beautiful course in Europe, Evian offers lovely parkland golf in a tranquil setting. Majestic trees, impeccable fairways and Lake Geneva make up the scenery. Evian is quite hilly but the views at the top are superb. The course itself is not too tough - it's perfect holiday golf and good enough to host the European Tour Evian Ladies Masters every year. It is a par 72 course and covers 6,606 yards.
